IN-DEPTH FAMILY CONSULTATION
The process begins with a consultation where we learn about your family’s lifestyle, needs, and preferences. This helps us understand what you’re looking for in a nanny—from experience and qualifications to personality and special skills.
FAMILY INTERVIEWS
Based on the consultation, we present carefully selected nanny candidates and arrange interviews. These meetings allow both family and nanny to assess compatibility, while we guide you on questions and expectations.
WORKING TRIALS (OPTIONAL)
We want every match to be a lasting success, so we encourage thoughtful decisions. Once a potential match is identified, we often arrange a short trial period—typically a few days to a week—so both the nanny and the family can experience daily life together and confirm the fit.
JOB OFFER
If the trial period is successful and both parties are happy to proceed, the family extends a job offer to the nanny. The agency can assist in negotiating terms, salary, and start dates.
WORK AGREEMENT
The nanny accepted—now what?
Great news! Once you hire a nanny, we’ll provide a detailed work agreement for you to review together before the first day. This document covers job duties, hours, pay, benefits, time off, emergencies, expectations, and boundaries. Completing it sets the foundation for a smooth start and long-term success, while ensuring both your family and your nanny have clear expectations and legal protection.
ON-GOING SUPPORT
Even after placement, the agency provides ongoing support to both the nanny and the family. This may include regular check-ins, conflict resolution assistance, and providing resources for the nanny’s professional development. The agency acts as a mediator and support system to ensure a smooth and successful working relationship.

In the event your Nanny is sick or going on vacation, Hunny can assist with your childcare needs. Back-up nannies are screened in the same manner our Nanny candidates are; background checked, references checked, etc. Please allow 24 hours + to schedule back-up coverage.

We know that sometimes—even with the best intentions—the fit isn’t quite right. If challenges come up after the first 120 days, we’ll step in to support both you and your nanny. This may include troubleshooting concerns, providing guidance, and if needed, beginning a replacement search. Our goal is always to make the process as smooth as possible so your family ends up with a nanny who truly feels like the right match.

Hiring a nanny can be intimidating! We’re here to help though.
The family is the employer of the nanny and pays them directly. The agency is not responsible for taxing being taken out or unemployment insurance. Nannies are employees, not independent contractors and therefore should receive a W-2 not a 1099.
Nannies are at-will, hourly employees, subject to overtime rates (time and a half) after 40 hours in a week.
Family agrees to withhold taxes. The employer’s portion of taxes is usually an additional 9-11% to the employee’s gross hourly rate.

While many placements are completed within 3–9 weeks, the timeline can vary depending on your specific needs and the availability of qualified candidates. Some matches happen more quickly, while others may take more time—especially if a nanny needs to give notice to a current family. Every placement is unique, and we’ll have a better sense of the timeline once we begin reviewing the applicants your position attracts.
We ask that you don’t rush the process, if you know you need a nanny, please reach out sooner rather than later. We may not be able to accept your placement if you come to us too late.

The salary of a nanny varies depending on the amount of experience, education, qualifications, job duties and the amount of children a nanny will be caring for. Nannies hired through our agency tend to fall in the $22-$30/hour range.

For a strong, lasting relationship, we recommend offering your nanny the same respect and stability you’d expect in any professional role. Standard benefits often include:

Overtime pay (for hours over 40 per week, as required by law)
